About
A Canadian money notebook, written by a real household.
Canada Wealth Ops exists because ordinary money decisions are harder than they should be. I write about the account moves, fees, promos, payroll changes, and family tradeoffs I wish were easier to understand when I started.
What this site is for
Four things we try to do well.
Canadian context first
RRSP, TFSA, FHSA, RESP, CESG, employer match, brokerages, and tax-room checks are written for Canadian households.
Real story before hot take
The best notes start with what actually happened: the account move, the fee, the promo, the payroll chore, or the family constraint.
Receipts before recommendations
Source links, assumptions, and dates stay attached so readers can check the answer instead of trusting a confident sentence.
Wholesome beats hype
Money education should feel useful, grounded, and human. No finance-bro chest-thumping, fake certainty, or ad-choked pages.
Who writes this
A real Canadian household, writing the account moves down.
This site is built from lived experience: CIBC mutual funds, self-directed investing, Questrade, USD currency costs, TD Direct Investing detours, Sun Life workplace plans, RESP transfers, Wealthsimple promos, and the little account chores that do not fit neatly into a “best brokerage” article.
I write from our household's experience while keeping family names and account balances private. The standard is specificity: explain what changed, link the source, show the tradeoff, and say what would make the idea wrong.
The site is educational. It is not personalized financial, legal, or tax advice. One household's answer will not fit every household.
The writing promise
How money notes get written here.
01
Story before opinion
Every note should make clear what actually happened, what changed, and why the question mattered in a real household.
02
Receipts over hot takes
Rules, fee pages, promo terms, and source dates stay attached so a reader can check the work.
03
One useful next check
A reader should leave with a practical check to run, not a vague command to overhaul their whole financial life.
04
Referral money stays in its lane
Referral links are disclosed before the click, marked for search engines, and cannot decide the recommendation.
Full legal context lives in disclosures.
