Wealthsimple Referral Code Canada 2026: Get $25

Code EHJW9W opens Wealthsimple's live $25 signup offer. Here is the exact deposit rule, payout timeline, disclosure, and why the separate 5% credit-card headline needs an asterisk.

Short version: EHJW9W is a working Wealthsimple referral code. If you were already going to open an eligible account, use the link or code before the window closes, deposit at least $100 from an external source within 30 days, and keep the $25 bonus in Wealthsimple for 180 days. Do not choose a financial platform for a $25 bonus alone, and do not assume the code includes the separate 5% credit-card offer.

Works best when

  • The referral and credit-card terms were checked against Wealthsimple's official pages on August 24, 2026; promotions can change without notice.
  • I recommend Wealthsimple after moving more than 80% of my investment accounts there. That is a count of accounts, not a disclosed percentage of our household assets.
  • The $25 referral is for eligible Canadian adults opening a qualifying account and meeting the external-funding rules, not every existing Wealthsimple client.

Look elsewhere when

  • Existing Wealthsimple clients who previously opened a qualifying Trade, Crypto, Managed Investing, or Chequing account and are outside Wealthsimple's correction window.
  • Anyone who cannot comfortably leave the $25 bonus in Wealthsimple for the stated 180-day hold period.
  • People considering the credit card only for its temporary boost while expecting to carry a balance or pay an annual fee that erases the value.

The short answer: EHJW9W works

I tested the full referral URL in a fresh browser session on August 24, 2026. Wealthsimple redirected it to its own signup flow with referralcode=EHJW9W in the address and showed the message: sign up now to get a $25 referral bonus. I stopped before entering any personal information; testing a referral should never require creating a fake account.

If you searched for a Wealthsimple referral code in Canada, a Wealthsimple promo code, or a Wealthsimple invite code, those phrases point to the same six-character referral mechanism here. The working code on this page is EHJW9W; the important part is still meeting the official eligibility and funding rules after the code is attached.

That confirms the code is recognized by Wealthsimple today. It does not guarantee that every reader qualifies, that Wealthsimple will approve an account, or that the promotion will remain unchanged. The useful part of this page is the fine print between clicking the link and actually receiving the money.

Verified code

EHJW9W

Current base reward

$25 to the eligible referred client and $25 to the eligible referrer.

Minimum funding

$100 in qualifying net deposits from outside Wealthsimple.

Funding window

30 days after the referral relationship is established.

How to use the Wealthsimple referral code

For a genuinely new client, the cleanest route is the verified invite link. It carries EHJW9W into Wealthsimple's signup page, which removes one opportunity to mistype the six-character code. Open a qualifying Wealthsimple Trade, Crypto, Managed Investing, or Chequing account as the primary account holder, then confirm the referral inside the Rewards Centre before moving money.

If you already created the account but have only just funded it, Wealthsimple's help page says you can open the gift icon, choose Invite friends, and enter a referral code within seven days after your first funding. On desktop, the same option appears in the gift area if no referrer is already attached. A confirmation screen should say the code was applied.

If the option is missing, do not keep opening accounts or moving money around to force it. Check referral history first. If it has been more than seven days since first funding, contact Wealthsimple support. Their help page says support may assist, but it does not guarantee a referral can be added, especially after 30 days.

What counts toward the $100 deposit

The current referral terms use net deposits, not merely the largest number that briefly appeared in the account. At least $100 must arrive from outside the Wealthsimple ecosystem during the 30-day funding period, after subtracting withdrawals and any transferred margin debit balance.

A normal deposit from an external bank can qualify. The terms also allow qualifying institutional account transfers and eligible crypto transfers from an external wallet. Wealthsimple must receive the funds within the window; starting a slow transfer on day 29 is not the same as having the funds received on time.

Internal transfers between your own Wealthsimple accounts do not count. Neither do peer-to-peer transfers inside Wealthsimple, Wealthsimple-issued bonuses or promotional credits, group RRSP contributions or group transfers, or deposits from Wealthsimple affiliates. The simplest low-drama route is usually a $100-or-more deposit from your external bank into the qualifying account.

Usually eligible

External bank deposits, qualifying institutional transfers, and qualifying crypto transfers from external wallets.

Not eligible

Internal transfers, Wealthsimple P2P transfers, promo credits, group-plan transactions, or affiliate funding.

Net means net

Withdrawals and transferred margin debit balances can reduce the amount counted.

Account ownership

The referred person must be the primary holder of the qualifying account.

The referral timeline, step by step

Day zero is when the referral relationship is established: either you sign up through the invite link, or you successfully apply the code in Wealthsimple. That starts the 30-day funding period. If you funded for the first time during the seven days before entering the code, Wealthsimple says the period is backdated under its specific timing rule.

During those 30 days, Wealthsimple must receive at least $100 of qualifying external net deposits. After the funding is completed and processed, the current terms say the $25 base bonus should land in the eligible chequing account within 24 hours.

Then comes the part many referral-code pages omit: Wealthsimple's terms say the bonus must remain in a Wealthsimple account for 180 days from the day it is applied. If it does not, the company may deduct or recover the bonus. Put a reminder on your calendar instead of treating the $25 as immediately portable cash.

Before or just after signup

Use the invite link, or enter EHJW9W while Wealthsimple still shows the referral-code option.

Within 30 days

Have at least $100 of qualifying external net deposits received by Wealthsimple.

After funding

The base bonus is scheduled for the active chequing account within 24 hours after processing.

For 180 days

Keep the $25 bonus at Wealthsimple or it may be recovered.

The chequing-account detail people miss

The referral bonus is paid into a Wealthsimple chequing account. Wealthsimple's terms require both eligible parties to have an active chequing account where they are the primary owner when the bonus is applied. If the referrer does not already have one, the current terms describe a 90-day period after the first notification to open it before the bonus expires.

That does not mean you must use Wealthsimple as your main bank. It means the payout rail for this promotion is its chequing product. If opening another account is not worth the administrative clutter to you, the $25 should not talk you into it.

Wealthsimple also says bonuses can have tax implications and that it does not issue a tax slip for a bonus paid to a non-registered account. Registered-account bonus history can create contribution-room issues, which is another reason to verify where a reward landed instead of assuming it is invisible money.

The 5% Wealthsimple credit-card offer, decoded

Wealthsimple does have a current promotion titled the Credit Card 5% Cash Back Welcome Offer. The headline is accurate only with the full sentence attached: eligible invited clients receive the card's standard 2% cash back plus an extra 3% for 30 days, on the first $10,000 of eligible net purchases.

It is not a permanent 5% card. It is not a public offer promised to everyone who clicks a referral link. The terms require an invitation through an in-app message or email, and the invited client must apply and be approved for an eligible Wealthsimple Visa Infinite or Visa Infinite Privilege card within 30 days of receiving that invitation.

The promotion began January 26, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern. The published terms do not state a fixed end date; Wealthsimple reserves the right to change or end it. That makes 'available now to everyone' the wrong way to describe it. The right check is whether the invitation is visible in your own app or email and what terms are attached when you apply.

Standard earn rate

2% on eligible net purchases under the current card terms.

Temporary boost

+3 percentage points, for 5% total, during the first 30 days after approval.

Purchase cap

The boost applies only to the first $10,000 of eligible net purchases.

Who gets it

Eligible Canadian adults who received an in-app or email invitation and are approved within 30 days.

What the 5% boost can actually be worth

At the full $10,000 purchase cap, 5% produces $500 of total cash back. But $200 of that is the card's normal 2% earn, so the special promotion adds at most $300 beyond the base rate. That incremental number is the honest value of the boost itself.

Spending more does not make the promotion more valuable after the cap. Purchases beyond the first $10,000 during the boosted period earn the standard rate, assuming they are otherwise eligible. Cash-like transactions, gift-card purchases, refunds, fees, and adjustments are excluded from the boost; returned purchases can reverse rewards.

Do not manufacture $10,000 of spending to chase $300 of extra cash back. The offer is most useful when a large, planned purchase already fits inside the 30-day window and you can pay the statement in full. A cash-back rate loses very quickly to credit-card interest.

$1,000 eligible spend

$50 total cash back: $20 base plus a $30 promotional boost.

$3,000 eligible spend

$150 total: $60 base plus a $90 boost.

$5,000 eligible spend

$250 total: $100 base plus a $150 boost.

$10,000 eligible spend

$500 total: $200 base plus the maximum $300 boost.

The credit-card hold, fee, and approval checks

The 5% terms say the card must remain open for 180 days after the 30-day boosted period ends. Closing or deactivating it earlier may let Wealthsimple deduct or recover the extra 3% portion. This is a different hold from the 180-day referral-bonus hold, even though the number of days happens to match.

The standard card fee is currently $20 per month, or $240 annually, with the first month automatically waived outside Quebec under the detailed terms. The ongoing fee can be waived for clients who maintain at least $100,000 in qualifying individual net deposits or assets under management, or who direct-deposit at least $4,000 per month into the linked Wealthsimple chequing account. Quebec has annual billing and separate waiver mechanics, so Quebec applicants should read that section directly.

The public card page also lists income and approval requirements. Visa Infinite+ requires at least $80,000 personal or $150,000 household income. Visa Infinite Privilege lists $150,000 personal or $200,000 household income, or alternative qualification through at least $50,000 annual spend or $400,000 at Wealthsimple. Applications involve a full credit check and approval is not guaranteed.

Current posted interest rates are 20.99% for purchases and 22.99% for cash advances or cash-like transactions, with higher rates after two consecutive missed minimum payments. In plain language: the welcome boost is not a reason to carry a balance.

What referral code EHJW9W does not do

The code does not make Wealthsimple the right brokerage, bank, or credit card for you. It does not waive investing fees, guarantee account approval, increase contribution room, make a transfer tax-free, or turn a temporary card promotion into a permanent earn rate.

It also does not automatically produce the 5% card offer. The referral terms say the referral promotion may be combined with other offers unless those other terms say otherwise, but combinability is not the same as eligibility. You still need the separate credit-card invitation and approval.

Finally, the code does not create a special higher reward than another valid standard referral code. The current base program sets the same $25 bonus. Use EHJW9W if this guide helped and the transparent $25-for-$25 arrangement feels fair, not because anyone claims it is a secret or exclusive code.

My honest take

I am comfortable recommending Wealthsimple because this is not a platform I use only to collect referrals. More than 80% of my investment accounts have moved there. That happened over time as the product caught up on the account, USD, and household-workflow details that had previously kept me elsewhere.

If you have already decided that Wealthsimple fits and you are eligible, leaving the referral field blank would mean both sides miss a modest bonus. EHJW9W is tested, the official signup page recognizes it, and the current path is straightforward when the $100 comes from an external source on time.

But $25 is not enough to rescue a bad product fit. Compare account fees, investment options, transfer mechanics, USD needs, branch access, service preferences, and the cost of adding one more financial account to your life. For the credit card, compare the real annual fee, your likelihood of qualifying for a waiver, and whether your normal 30-day spending makes the temporary boost useful.

That is the bargain I am comfortable publishing: the code is here, the financial incentive is obvious, the restrictions are not hidden, and the official terms remain one click away.

Referral disclosure

If you open and fund an eligible Wealthsimple account through this link, Wealthsimple may pay you $25 and pay me $25. That gives me a financial incentive to refer you. It adds no referral fee to your account, but you should still decide whether Wealthsimple fits your needs independently.

$25 for you, and $25 for me.

The referral link applies code EHJW9W during signup. To qualify under the current terms, an eligible new client must add at least $100 from an external source to a qualifying account within 30 days.
